Double glazing
With the latest buzz words being environmentally friendly, eco-conscious and the reduction of one’s carbon footprint, dual paned windows or double glazing is receiving a lot more attention. As opposed to the singled paned windows, a double glazed window, which is fitted with two panes of glass, is able to offer a room far better insulation and with improved insulation, warm air remains inside, while cold air is kept outside.
By converting all single paned glass windows to dual paned double glazed windows, heating bills are lowered as there will be no need to generate additional heat inside the home on days where the temperature is below freezing. In any home or building, heat which is generated by a heater or air conditioner is lost through single glazed windows. This can be easily corrected by swapping the single paned windows for windows which contain two panes of glass (or which are double glazed). The exterior pane will serve as an effective barrier against the cold outside temperature, while the interior pane will act as an insulator, which means that all warm air remains inside.
In the same vein, in hot temperatures a double glazed window will keep cooler temperatures inside, while the excessively high temperatures are kept at bay, as the outside window will become a barrier against direct sunlight. With such windows fitted to a home, or office building, electrical costs are greatly lowered as both cool and warm air generated within the building remains inside and is unable to escape thought single paned windows, which offer poor or little insulation.
In addition to the double glazed windows allowing for improved home insulation, all windows which are dual glazed will serve as an effective soundproof barrier. To this end, noise pollution is greatly minimised and due to this fact, homes or offices which face busy roads and highways are the perfect choice for such glass work.
