At some time in our lives, most of us will require the services of a plumber. Be it to fix a dripping tap, repair a faulty boiler, the installation of a washing machine or saving you from the problems of a burst pipe.
Plumbers will do it all. Sadly though, the industry has gained a poor reputation over the years for being unreliable admany a day off has ben lost due to a plumber not keeping their appointment. But many companies in the UK are out to change all that as the industry slowly brings itself round to offering a reliable, professional services.
The range of services provided by an average plumber is both wide and varied. Today’s professional plumber is capable of installing a new tap, or installing a new bathroom. Indeed, many plumbers are capable of providing a complete bathroom fitting service, which, in addition to the standard bath, sink and toilet, will include the installation of central heating radiators, electric showers and all tiling.
Central Heating and Boiler Repairs
Most plumbers are also able to install (or repair) complete central heating systems. This includes the installation of a brand new boiler to heat the system. One thing to watch however, is the rquirement for the plumber to be registered as Gas Safe (formerly CORGI) if they are dealing with any gas appliance in your home (this, of course, includes gashobs abd gas ovens). If you want to check if your plumber of choice is Gas Safe registered, look on the Gas Safe Register website.
Of course, it may just be that your boiler has stopped working. If that’s the case, once more your local plumber can come to the rescue. Most qualified plumbers are able to repair the majority of boilers – look for a specific mention on advertising or a page on the plumbers website which talks about their ability to provide boiler repairs.
No Call-Out Fee
One final thing to consider is are you going to be paying a call out charge to get your plumber to visit you. Many of today’s plumbers choose not to charge for call-out, instead they will visit your home and offer you a fixed price estimate for any work you require. Thereafter, it’s normaly up to you to decide whether it’s worth asking them to do the job in question.
