De-clutter your home and get it spic and span
Posted by in UncategorizedAre you fed up on cleaning and still finding that the house is a mess? Perhaps it’s time to consider the real reason it isn’t as tidy as you’d like, regardless of how much cleaning you do. Maybe the truth is that your home is just too cluttered and you need to part with some of your possessions in order to keep the place neat.
First of all, start with the areas of the house that guests are most likely to be in. The kitchen and the living room are most often used for entertaining visitors and so you should start here. Get rid of anything that you don’t use or haven’t used in the last 3 months. Throw away old magazines and catalogues, get round to taking the recycling to a recycling plant and just generally have a good tidy up. If you have items sat on the work surfaces or in cupboards that you rarely use, seriously consider throwing it out, selling it on eBay or giving to charity to make more space and de-clutter.
Once you’ve done this, it may be worth your while to employ the services of domestic cleaners to give the entertaining rooms a deep clean so that you remember why you have done your de-cluttering. Take photos of the rooms when they are clutter-free and have been professionally cleaned so that you can look at them in the future to keep you focused.
Next, you should move onto the bathroom. Get rid of all those empty shampoo bottles, razors and empty toilet rolls. The bathroom or separate toilet will also be seen by visitors so they need to be kept spotless. If need be, why not find a modern pedal bin so that you can throw items away as needed rather than putting them on shelves. Again, a good cleaning session once you’ve finished can really help to make the rooms look smart, tidy and looked after. Not to mention the lovely smell that will come from the room when you’re done!
Next, move onto the bedrooms. Now the bedroom is often one of the worst places for clutter. You’ve probably got lots of clothing that you don’t use or need, which could be put to good use by donating them to charity. Pull everything out from under the bed and have a sort out – anything that you’ve not used or forgot you had needs to go. It’s just sat gathering dust anyway. While you’ve got all your possessions out, get down to cleaning under the bed too as this doesn’t get done very often.
In your office, sort through all your paperwork. Most bank statements and bills can be viewed online these days so there really is no need to keep stacks of paper in your home. Don’t forget the garage too, as there are often a lot of possessions in there that can be disposed of.
Now that you home is clutter-free, you can keep on top of the cleaning easily! If you’d prefer you can always contact a local cleaning firm to do regular cleaning work at your home!
